Porous polymer charged membrane

——Function and application

Issuing time:2025-05-28 13:41Author:Mr.Pan

Overview:

Porous polymer charged membrane is a thin film made of a single component polymer material, with a porous structure and charge, and has specific functions and applications.

1. Function of charge

The charge comes from the ionic groups on the molecular chain of the material.

The cationic group is positively charged and can adsorb anions of dissolved salts, negatively charged inorganic particles, organic colloids, etc., while repelling anions of dissolved salts, positively charged inorganic particles, organic colloids, etc.

The anionic group is negatively charged, and the adsorption and repulsion are just the opposite. The strength of the charge depends on the number of ionic groups and chemical activity (valence, oxidizability, reducibility).

2. The influence of microstructure (pores & channels) on charge

The uniformity of pore shape and distribution determines and affects the uniformity of charge distribution on the membrane surface.

The regularity, symmetry, and tortuosity of the channel shape determine and affect the uniformity of charge distribution on the core layer.

The effective porosity and the number of effective channels determine the strength and working performance of the overall charge.

3. Typical applications of porous polymer charged membranes

3.1 Charge-assisted aperture screening of neutral particles and charged particles

3.2 Charge-assisted molecular weight cutting of neutral organic matter and charged organic matter

3.3 Charge desalination and deionization of neutral organic materials.

3.4 Semiconductor electronic ultrapure water (after RO) terminal filtration, capture escaped salt ions, and ensure resistance.

3.5 Electroplating, electrolytic cell diaphragm,

3.6 Ion exchange membrane

3.7 Solvent desalination purification recovery membrane

3.8 Waste battery treatment membrane, electrolyte electrolyte separation and recovery.

4. Long-term and safety of charge

The conventional coated charged membrane on the market has a coating that is easy to fall off, dissolve, short-term and has a risk of pollution.

In conventional plasma treatment processes, the membrane can temporarily have a charge, which will quickly disappear under humidity, temperature, chemical and wetting conditions.

High-temperature chemical grafting processes, such as fuming sulfuric acid or chlorosulfonic acid sulfonation, have a great influence on the mechanical properties of the membrane substrate,

and the strength and elongation are seriously reduced.

The interfacial polymerization process is complex and difficult to control. It is difficult to ensure the quality of the film and the uniformity of the charge. It is costly and has a low cost performance.

We produce a single-layer homogeneous high-strength porous polymer-based membrane using a unique grafting process. The mechanical property reduction rate is <10-15%,

and the effective grafting rate (titration equivalent method) is 10-25% adjustable and controllable.

The ionic group types include carboxyl, sulfonyl, quaternary ammonium, and amine. It is resistant to temperature and chemical conditions, firm and does not fall off, stable and not easy to dissolve,

long-lasting and safe. At the same time, the water contact angle of the membrane can be adjusted to improve the hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity, ensure the appropriate wetting expansion rate,

liquid absorption and liquid retention, horizontal diffusion speed, and vertical climbing (wicking) speed and height, to meet the applications and requirements of more industries and fields.
